It’s one of the main centers of commerce and finance in the world. It’s considered a "global city" for its influences in the media, politics, education, entertainment, arts and fashion; however, its greatest strength is art and culture. In addition, is the headquarters of the United Nations Organization so it’s an important point in international relations.

The city has many places and buildings recognized around the world such as the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center Twin Towers that were demolished in the attacks of September 11, 2001. 

It’s also the birthplace of several cultural movements as:

o   Harlem Renaissance in literature and visual arts.

o   Abstract expressionism in painting.

o   Hip hop, Punk and Tin Pan Alley in music.
